Members on Dialup: Faster Loads

I get a blank picture box with a red X.  I right click the box and then click show picture, it still doesn't work.

What exactly happens when you try? I'll take a look when I have time and see if it's a settings or permissions issue.

Thanks Chip and Don, I can put the forum provided avatars on here but not from a file.  They are 65x65 or smaller.

In your profile go to "forum profile information" & select personalized picture.
There you can just choose from hundreds of on-site "stock" avatars (like mine) from the drop-down list on the right.

If you want your own custom photo there are 2 options
(1) "I have my own pic" just select that and enter the address to the photo on the web wherever you have it located like http://www.mywebsite.com/images/myface.jpg or whatever (That's what Chip does).
Or
(2) "I will upload my own" just select & use the browse function to locate you avatar on your PC and upload it from there.
Remember either way avatars must be small and the defined size is: 65 X 65 pixels. The forum software will allow for some re-sizing if it's a bit large but you can't use a full-size photo and expect the forum to resize it that much, so get as close to 65 X 65 as you can.

Say, hog, there be nothing but dial up here, we have no DSL, no BSL, ISDN, BBSN, T1, T2 , T3, or C4. Occasionally I might get some PMS from you know who, but it's dial up or that over priced satellite here.

That stinks... Yeah that satellite setup way too $$$$$$$

About 600 for the install, around 100 a month and if it rains your offline till it stops.

As you can tell by my avatars and signatures, I am a blatant showoff.  However I realize some of the members here don't have broadband available to them and the images that some of us use may cause the forum to load slower than desired.  To speed things up, go to PROFILE (between SEARCH and MEMBER MAP in toolbar), click on LOOK AND LAYOUT PREFERENCES, then click the checkboxes for DON'T SHOW OTHER'S AVATARS and DON'T SHOW OTHER'S SIGNATURES. Hope this helps!
